Dufferin Piecemakers Quilting Guild Donates to CDVS
May 30, 2019
CaledonDufferin Victim Services is grateful to the Dufferin Piecemakers Quilting Guild for the donation of a number of large and small handmade quilts that will be provided to victims of crime and tragic circumstances. "We have received a number of these beautiful quilts in the past", Executive Director Dorothy Davis stated, "and I have personally had the pleasure of seeing the joy they bring to victims who have often lost everything". The quilts are both a symbolic and concrete example of our community wrapping around victims in our community. Sincere thanks to all the talented quilters for sharing your craft in this special way!
We would like to acknowledge that the land on which we gather is the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee, Iroquois, Ojibway/Chippewa, Anishinabek, the Metis, and most recently, the territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit River. This Territory is covered by the Upper Canada Treaties and the Haldimand Treaty. We are grateful to live and work on this land. The territory was the subject of the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, an agreement between the Iroquois Confederacy and the Ojibwe and allied nations to peaceably share and care for the resources around the Great Lakes.
