CaledonDufferin Victim Services recognized as Community Partner of the Year
May 10, 2018

CaledonDufferin Victim Services has been working with students from UofT Mississauga Campus (UTM) in the Community Innovation Project division since 2011. In partnership with UTM, local non-profits identify a challenge or problem within their organization that they would like to explore changing and UTM student teams work to develop an achievable solution for that organization.

Students work on real-life projects to develop an attainable solution and present their recommendations to members of the organization's staff for their consideration and possible implementation.  Through this partnership CDVS helps to build the skills and confidence of our future community leaders, connecting learning to life.  This year CaledonDufferin Victim Services was recognized by the Centre for Student Engagement at UofT as the Community Partner of the Year for outstanding student mentorship.  Dorothy Davis and Pina Marino were present at the UofT award ceremony to accept this award and agency recognition.

We would like to acknowledge that the land on which we gather is the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee, Iroquois, Ojibway/Chippewa, Anishinabek, the Metis, and most recently, the territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit River. This Territory is covered by the Upper Canada Treaties and the Haldimand Treaty. We are grateful to live and work on this land. The territory was the subject of the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, an agreement between the Iroquois Confederacy and the Ojibwe and allied nations to peaceably share and care for the resources around the Great Lakes.
