CaledonDufferin Victim Services & COVID-19 Service Impact - March 30, 2020
Mar 30, 2020

To Our Caledon & Dufferin Community,

Your health and safety are important to us. There have been growing concerns over the Coronavirus and we want you to know that we are monitoring new information daily and are committed to maintaining a healthy work environment, providing quality service to those we support and respecting the rights of everyone involved.

CDVS is committed to taking all reasonable precautions and other specifically prescribed steps required by health and safety or other legislation to protect employees, volunteers and the communities we serve. We know we are all in this together.  More information will be shared in the coming days and weeks as it becomes available but until then, here is our current update as of March 30, 2020 9:30 am:

  • All services will be provided to clients virtually or over the phone.
  • All in person scene attendances are temporarily suspended and replaced with phone contact.
  • All community meetings will be conducted or attended virtually or over the phone.
  • All in office meetings are suspended and will be replaced by telephone meetings
  • All in-home and community visits are suspended and replaced with virtual or phone contact.

We remain a 24/7 service – taking referrals from police, community partners and the public. We are still available for support, information and referrals to all community members affected by crime, abuse or tragic circumstances. We have the capacity to make phone contact very quickly if required and people will still get a live person if they call in and there are no wait times etc. We can still help eligible people access the Ministry VQRP financial program and connect them with emergency safety enhancements or counselling services that can take place by phone, text or virtually if not in person.

We will keep our community updated if our services change. Till then - stay safe & be well...take care of eachother even if it needs to be at a distance.

Dorothy Davis, Executive Director
CaledonDufferin Victim Services

We would like to acknowledge that the land on which we gather is the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee, Iroquois, Ojibway/Chippewa, Anishinabek, the Metis, and most recently, the territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit River. This Territory is covered by the Upper Canada Treaties and the Haldimand Treaty. We are grateful to live and work on this land. The territory was the subject of the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, an agreement between the Iroquois Confederacy and the Ojibwe and allied nations to peaceably share and care for the resources around the Great Lakes.
